Shirley’s background is in fashion, textiles & interiors. After her Textile Design degree she worked on international magazines where she travelled extensively to research trends in colour, textiles and lifestyle developments.
She became a freelance Design Consultant where she had more freedom to extend her creative portfolio. Alongside this she created small ranges of handcrafted products for Liberty, Designers Guild & Paperchase amongst others.
While at uni she was often making jewellery when she was supposed to be designing textiles! She likes to think of the pieces almost as three dimensional collages and often buys gemstones, freshwater pearls and unusual beads and components while on her travels. Each piece is a one off. She loves creating bespoke pieces and commissions such as starting with a clients preloved or broken piece of jewellery and reworking it into something unique and wearable.
Suffolk has been home for 3 years and has inspired her to also create sculptural wirework pieces as well as venturing into painting. Above all, she is inspired by creative pursuits and the creative people she meets along the way.
